Welcome to Gut Feeling

At Gut Feeling, we specialise in advancing the understanding of the intricate relationship between gut health and psychological wellbeing. This emerging field of psych gastroenterology recognises that the gut and brain are in constant communication — a dynamic known as the gut–brain axis — influencing mood, cognition, and overall mental health.

The practice is led by Dr Linda Thomas, Australia’s only Mucosal Immunologist and Clinical Psychologist, whose work integrates the disciplines of immunology, neuroscience, and clinical psychology. Dr Thomas provides a research-informed and clinically validated framework for individuals seeking to address persistent issues such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, or chronic digestive disorders through a biopsychosocial lens.

As a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, Dr Thomas contributes to ongoing research on the immune and neurochemical mechanisms linking gastrointestinal and emotional function. She is also a published author, invited speaker, and media commentator, frequently featured in discussions on the gut–brain connection and its implications for clinical practice and public health.

At Gut Feeling, our approach bridges scientific insight with compassionate clinical care, empowering patients to understand how physiological processes, microbial balance, and emotional regulation interact to shape overall well-being.
